Historical Atlas of Goiás

This Atlas required a multi and interdisciplinary work involving historians, specialists in the various branches of history (Demography, Economic History, Social History and Political History), as well as geographers with training in Thematic Cartography and familiarity with the use of computing through Cartography programs and specific drawings. This is the only way to produce maps that represent a harmonious set of symbols, letters, colors and numbers, so that the cartographic message can be easily understood by the general public. It was with this intention that we composed the team in charge of the elaboration of the XIX and XX centuries Atlas.

Almanac and Virtual Museum about the cultural, material and immaterial Patrimony of the Goiás capitals

Description: The teaching of the history of Goiás is currently summarized in the 4th and 5th grades of Elementary School when History of the Municipality and History of the State, respectively, are treated. The teachers of these grades are limited to a restricted information that often does not provide an adequate understanding with their didactic-methodological purposes; others, do not even have this scarce information and end up not developing the topics relevant to the content of Social Studies. In subsequent series, the history of Goiás is completely abandoned, not having the concern of inserting regional events in the whole history taught. In high school a fragmented content, taken from "copies" of dissertations and theses, populate the imaginary of the "apostilas" (summaries) of pre-vestibular courses; Without abandoning the perspective that Goiás is part of the broader movement of expansion of the capitalist system, we will seek the contradictions of that process that have particularized the specific historical process of the region by resizing its relationship with the past from present demands, we will propose new ways of investigating the "experiences" of Goiás society, not only in their economic relations, but in their ways of life, in their daily struggles, in their habits, values, ways of dressing and living, of celebrating, singing, transmitting their oral traditions, living with them or resisting the transformations also as a daily experience from the discussions of the new cultural history. These are new ways of seeing the historical process of Goiás. From the new conceptions of history teaching that have been elaborated since the last decade with the objective of bringing to the teaching proposals the most recent contributions of historiography and modern pedagogical theories and methodologies, we chose to work with thematic concepts, having as perspective the reordering of the exposition process itself, trying to break with the chronological and causal vision as a factor to obtain the totality; The recovery of the dynamics of the historical past will be obtained from the construction of the object of analysis, a construction produced, in turn, from the questions posed by the present. We also have in mind the understanding that making history always presents innumerable possibilities and the success of one of these aspects may have obliterated the vision of the others; we also consider that historical interpretations can be based only on the history of the "winner" and in this sense continuous historiographic criticism becomes indispensable. That said, we believe that the "making" of an almanac resembles a type of "encyclopedic" knowledge destined for all audiences, since its informative character does not seek to deepen the themes it deals with. This type of "literature" deals with the most varied themes, from scientific to humorous or recreational. Another very peculiar characteristic of the almanacs is the division by approached themes, where we notice publications of gastronomic, nautical, astronomical almanacs, etc.;Due to these particularities present in the almanacs is that its constitution instigates us to develop it together with the students of the graduation course in History and with the students of the accessory subject about History of Goiás of high school offered to CEPAE. Its singularity of being able to work with writing, iconography, research, documentary sources, and at the same time not "deepen" these themes, gives us the conditions to produce a material relating the heritage in Vila Boa/Goiás city and Goiânia.
